  16. Connecticut. William Faulkner once called him "the best book
  17. editor I know." Erskine began as an editor at Random House in
  18. 1947 and worked on Faulkner's Intruder in the Dust, Ralph
  19. Ellison's Invisible Man, James Michener's Hawaii, Eudora Welty's
  20. Losing Battles, Cormac McCarthy's The Orchard Keeper and others.
  21. Erskine retired in 1987.
